Elective Biomedical Detoxification

The Only Program of its Kind in Oklahoma:

Elective BioMedical Detoxification for Lowering Persistent

Bioaccumulative Toxins (PBT's) for Patients Suffering with Chronic

Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and Other Auto-immune and

Neuro-degenerative Diseases

Have you ever wondered why we are experiencing such increased rates of auto-immune diseases such as lupus, Sjogren’s, as well as fibromyalia and chronic fatigue syndrome in the last couple of decades?  How about the increases in people suffering from cognitive decline and the neuro-degenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s and Multiple Sclerosis?  What could be causing these alarming trends?

The fact is that some experts suggest that “Humankind” is at the most important crossroads in our existence.  A crossroads between environmental influences and health, or in these instances, lack thereof….  The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that one in every four incidents of death or disease in the world is due to an environmental, chemical problem .  The number of chemicals introduced into our lives since World War II is staggering.  With those chemicals, arrives an alarming increase in autoimmune diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and infections from an immune system that has become compromised.

It is now clear that the world in which we live is surrounded by toxins.  There are a diverse amount of these toxins ranging from heavy metals to volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) and semi-volatile VOC’s.  A significant portion of these are called Persistent Bioaccumulative Toxins or PBT’s for short.  This means that they exist in the environment and our food chain for a very long time and can exert profound problems for our biological systems.  These substances range from DDT and PCB’s to Dioxins, and plasticizers.

Each year, the U.S. EPA reviews an average of 1700 new compounds that industry is seeking to introduce.  Yet the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act requires that they be tested for any ill effects before approval ONLY if evidence of potential harm exists – which seldom is the case for new chemicals.  The agency approves about 90% of the new compounds without restrictions.  Only a quarter of the 85,000 chemicals in use in the U.S. have ever been tested for toxicity.

Our total toxic burdens of these poisonous compounds continues to increase and accumulate within our bodies each and every year.

According to Zegarac in a research article published in Environmental Health Perspective in 2001, “An enormous amount of research literature associating toxin exposure to disease has been published, and current estimates suggest that between $568 and $793 BILLION dollars is spent in the U.S. and Canada every year on toxicity-related diseases.

Walter Crinnion, N.D., Chairman of the Department of Environmental Medicine at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine noted that, “Chemical compounds ubiquitous in our food, air, and water are now found in every person.  The bioaccumulation of these compounds in some individuals can lead to a variety of metabolic and systemic dysfunctions, and in some cases outright disease states.”

He also noted that there are certain groups of people who are less able to clear the daily chemical exposure from their bodies thus leading to a total biological toxic load that exceeds the ability of the body to adapt ; and at that point, damage to certain organ systems occurs .  The systems most often affected by these xenobiotic compounds include the immune, neurological, and endocrine systems.

Health consumers are becoming increasingly aware of this connection between biological toxins and the huge increases in degenerative diseases and those proactive consumers are seeking providers who can assess their toxic chemical burdens and assist them in reducing their risk of becoming a statistic as a person who develops auto-immune disease or cancer, etc.  And for those who already have a chronic disease process that has not responded well to traditional drug therapy, or are desiring a different approach to address the cause of their problem, they too are seeking a knowledgeable provider who can be their “medical authority to assist in healing the ravages of a toxic world.”

Marion Medical’s comprehensive treatment program for reducing the bioaccumulated toxins is quite sophisticated.  The process may include the utilization of any combination of the following:

Oral (Chelex or DMSA) and IV Chelation Therapy:

Chelation therapy (both oral and intravenous) has been a critical treatment that has been available for biological toxicity due to heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, and so forth.  The toxic heavy metals are well known for their ability to create a variety of disease states within the body.  The chelating agents that are used in treatment essentially "attach" to the heavy metal making it inert and then the body excretes the complexed compound.  This will reduce the total body burdens of these toxic compounds within the body over time.

Oxidative (H2O2) and Ascorbate (Vitamin C) Intravenous Therapy:

Oxidative therapy with intravenous hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was first published in the British Medical Journal back in 1920.  It's first intravenous use was reported by Dr. T.H. Oliver, M.D.  Today, between 50 to 100 scientific articles are published each month about the biologic effects of H2O2.  Research reports have come from Baylor, Yale, harvard, UCLA, Boston, England, Japan, Germany, Sweden, Russia, Canada, and other countries.

There are many theories about the different functions of hydrogen peroxide in the body and a great deal of scientific material supports almost every one.  Hydrogen peroxide is produced in the body in different amounts for different purposes.  It is part of a system which helps you use the OXYGEN you breathe.  It is part of a system which helps your body regulate all living cell membranes.  It is a hormonal regulator, necessary for your body to produce several hormonal substances such as estrogen, progesterone and thyroid.  It is important in the regulation of blood sugar, and the production of energy in all cells.  It helps regulate certain chemicals necessary to operate the brain and nervous system.  It is used in the defense system of the body to kill bacteria, virus, yeast and parasites and has been found to be important in regulating the immune system.  Additionally, hydrogen peroxide assists in "burning up" volatile organic compounds.  Scientists are discovering the function of hydrogen peroxide in the body is far more complex and important than previously realized.

Other forms of oxidative medicine that we administer includes major autohemo-ozone, ultraviolet blood irradiation, ozone insufflations, and more.

Intravenous vitamin C, as explained in the book, "Curing the Incurable" has garnered significant attention for its clinical performance in a broad spectrum of diseases/conditions.  Intravenous ascorbates are an essential component in addressing patients suffering with toxic burdens leading to chronic disease.
